Mineral resources agency to drill 2 exploration wells in Khatanga
MOSCOW, Aug 24 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Mineral Resources Agency plans to drill two exploration wells in the Yenisei-Khatanga Strait in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Region, deputy head Orest Kasparov told reporters on Thursday.
Russian oil companies Lukoil and Rosneft own two neighboring areas on the Taimyr Peninsula. The inland area belongs to Lukoil and the offshore area, or the Khatanga subsurface area, to Rosneft.
In May, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Sergei Donskoi said that Lukoil was to discover a large oil field in the Vostochno-Taimyrsky area with around 100 million tonnes of recoverable reserves.
